What is your favourite part of working as a Senior Move Manager?

The people I meet. Especially the clients themselves. I take absolute delight in knowing that I have helped them in some way, through what is often an extremely challenging and unsettling time. I try to combine my practicality with a sense of humour and give lots of encouragement. I want them to feel completely supported throughout the entire process of their move and hopefully l leave them feeling both relieved enthusiastic about their new surroundings.

What part of your work do you find the hardest?

Asking clients for testimonials…

What did you do before becoming a Senior Move Manager?

Lots - my job prior to becoming a SMM was working as customer relations manager in a hotel. Before that I worked at a girls school for 10 years and in another life completely I worked on various magazines and newspapers writing about fashion, interiors and celebrities.

What misconceptions do people have about our work?

Not so much about the job itself, but I think many people automatically assume that ‘seniors’ are just old people, and forget that they have often held down incredible jobs and have lived fascinating lives. I love listening to their stories and life experiences and actively encourage them to reminisce . They are often full of wisdom and good advice.

If you get a free moment, what do you do to unwind?

I like going to the theatre with my husband - visiting my children, walking with my dog, reading, watch crime drama’s on Netflix and I have very recently got into a tiny bit of gardening.

What is the most unique request you have dealt with for a client and how did you do so?

I have had a couple of unique requests from clients - nothing untoward.
